Amanda Jackson, owner of Queen Beans in Queen Street Commons on the main street of Port Perry, Ontario is now the owner and operator of the P’lovers Environmental Store in the same building. P'lovers is a Canadian chain created to help people live more sensitively with the earth. Port Perry is located on the shore of Lake Scugog, just a short drive from Toronto, Canada. P’lovers stands for both ‘planet lovers’ and ‘Piping Plovers’, an endangered bird species.
Port Perry joins Stratford and Bayfield, Ontario, and Halifax and Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, as a location for this chain of environmental stores. The Planet Lovers stores have been created with the intention of positively affecting the quality of the world in which we live so customers can use their purchasing power to reflect their values and make a difference.
Port Perry's Popularity
Port Perry is a popular place for visitors throughout the year thanks largely to its lake and its attractive Victorian buildings in the downtown area. Its quaint beauty and specialty shops, not to mention the movies, TV series, and TV commercials shot here, attract thousands of visitors each weekend.
Port Perry has doubled as the Maine town of Mooseport in the film Welcome to Mooseport and was used briefly as a small town in New Hampshire during the sixth season of The West Wing. The town was also the primary production location for the film, Fly Away Home, based on local inventor Bill Lishman's experiments imprinting geese. More recently the town was featured in a 2010 Burger King commercial.
P'lovers was started in Halifax in 1992 and the chain is now the largest network of environmental stores in Canada. Their Halifax location was one of the first stores in the country to specialize in environmentally friendly products. Planet Lovers sells products designed to reflect the values of people who love the planet and want to take care of it.
